How to get to DCU

DCU is located a short distance from Dublin city centre, Dublin Airport and the M50 and M1 motorways. The campus is bordered by Ballymun Road and Collins Avenue.

Dublin Airport to DCU: conference shuttle

* Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th *

The conference organisers will provide a free shuttle service from the airport to the Helix in DCU. The bus will be branded with the DCU logo and depart from the coach park once per hour on the hour during the following periods.

Monday 24th June: 4pm to 10pm (4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm)

Tuesday 25th June: 9am to 9pm (9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm)

DCU is serviced by the following buses, which stop outside the University at the Ballymun Road and Collins Avenue Extension entrances or near to the University, with stops on the Swords Road, Glasnevin Avenue and Collins Avenue West (all short walking distances to DCU).
Routes servicing DCU are:

  • 1 - Collins Avenue Ext to Sandymount (St. John’s Church) via city centre
  • 4 - Ballymun Road to Monkstown Avenue via city centre
  • 9 - Ballymun Road to Limekiln Avenue, Walkinstown via city centre
  • 11 - Ballymun Road to Sandyford Industrial Estate via city centre
  • 13 - Ballymun Road to Grange Castle Business Park, Clondalkin, via city centre
  • 14 - Collins Avenue West to Dundrum Luas Station via city centre
  • 16 - Swords Road (Collins Avenue Ext) to Ballinteer (Kingston) via city centre
  • 17A - Kilbarrick to Blanchardstown Centre via Glasnevin Avenue
  • 33 - Balbriggan to City Centre via Swords Road (Collins Avenue Ext)
  • 41/41B/41C - Swords to City Centre via Swords Road (Collins Avenue Ext)
  • 44 - Collins Avenue Ext (Larkhill) to Enniskerry via City Centre
  • 104 - Clontarf Road (Conquer Hill) via Vernon Ave, Donnycarney, Kilmore Road, Beaumont Hospital, Shanowen Road, Shanard Road (Santry)

To and From Dublin Airport
Bus routes 16, 41 and 41B serve Dublin Airport on northbound. (City Centre = southbound from DCU)
From the Airport: get off the bus at Collins Avenue Extension (ask the Driver as there are no announcements), cross the road at the junction - follow the signpost to DCU. about 10 minutes walk, DCU main entrance will be on your left. (pictorial guide to DCU)

From Dublin Airport - By Taxi
Taxis are available from the forecourts directly outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Passengers should follow Taxi signage to the designated taxi ranks. A taxi dispatcher is available at either taxi rank if you require any further information or assistance. Fare to DCU approx: €15 to €20.

From Connolly Railway Station, Dublin
You may get out the train station, cross the road and walk on Talbot Street to O'Connel Street (about 10 minutes) or take LUAS (Light Rail Transit System in Dublin) just outside the Railway station to Abbey Street (only two stops), then walk up to O'Connel Street (2 minutes)
and find Dublin Bus stop northbound, 4, 9, 11 or 13 to DCU Bullymun Road Entrance.
Likewise, if you are arriving to Heuston Station from the West of Ireland, take LUAS to Abbey Street (five stops) - or take Dublin Bus to O'Connell Street (City Centre Fare, 65c), then bus 4, 9, 11 or 13 to DCU Bullymun Road Entrance.

From Dublin Ferryport
If you take ferry from UK and arriving Dublin Ferry Port, take bus 53 to City Centre (Connolly Rail Station or Talbot Street) and walk to O'Connell Street, then take 4, 9, 11 or 13 to DCU Bullymun Road Entrance.

From Dún Laoghaire ferry port
If you take ferry from UK and arriving Dún Laoghaire (pronounce like and sometimes spelt as "Dunleary"), take DART - Dublin Area Rapid Transit - to Connolly Station, walk to O'Connell Street, then take bus - 4, 9, 11 or 13 to DCU Bullymun Road Entrance.
