Next Week: Events, Gigs & Things to Do

There are a wide variety of things to do in Dublin next week. This is the start of our summer so most festivals and events are scheduled at this time of year.

We have already highlighted some things to do around DCU (here) so below is a selection of offerings around the city centre.

MUSEUMS & GALLERIES

> Chester Beatty Library

This was described by the Lonely Planet as not just the best museum in Ireland, but one of the best in Europe. It is the only museum in Ireland to win 'European Museum of the Year'. Free admission. Link

> National Museum of Ireland

Spread across a number of buildings in the city, these museums house a variety of collections including Archaeology, Decorative Arts and History, Country Life and Natural History. Free admission. Link

> National Gallery of Ireland

The gallery's collection holds 15,000 works of art dating from the 13th to the 20th century. There are three exhibitions taking place alongside this collection: Masterpieces, Essential Ireland and Shades of Grey. Free admission to collection. Link

SHOWS & THEATRE

> Riverdance

Its 10th summer season kicks off in the Gaiety Theatre on 27th June. This show has toured the world for the past 17 years and has been experienced live by over 23 million people worldwide. Tickets €10 - €55. Link

> James Joyce Dubliners: A Full Day Epic

If you have a day to spare, this self-guided walking tour (on headphones) will take 9-10 hours, including pub breaks, to complete. It invites you on an historic walk of the streets and buildings in which Joyce set his short stories, whilst you listen to 10 of his classic stories in situ, as they are told and performed for you on headphones by an ensemble cast. Tickets €17 - €19. Link

MUSIC & COMEDY

> youbloom Festival - Gigs

This festival runs alongside a music conference for independent artists. Taking place in the Dame Street area over three nights, it comprises of 100 acts and five venues. Tickets €15 - €35. Link

> Talk Talk: The All Ireland Comedy Show

A new show taking place in the Comedy Cellar, the International Bar. Admission €5 Link
