LOC Briefing No. 3) IAMCR-2013 Conference, Dublin

IAMCR2013 is ready to go!

The LOC are almost finished the last-minute preparations for IAMCR2013 and we are very excited about the week ahead. The all-important Irish weather is good today in Dublin, with some sun and clouds. Our Met office has indicated that for the most part, dry and settled conditions will continue to the weekend, with temperatures in the high teens or low twenties. However, do bring an umbrella - some showers are also forecast, a price we have to pay in Ireland to retain our 'Emerald Isle' title!

1. Searchable online programme now available

We are very excited to announce the launch of our online searchable programme of presenters and abstracts. This database version of the programme will give you a list of presenters and abstracts and has various sort and search facilities, including search by slot code. Please take a look at the guide to the programme here.

We are delighted to launch this initiative as part of our environmental strategy as it cuts down on the manufacture and transportation of USB sticks from their point of origin in Asia. It also allows us to provide you with the most up-to date information about the conference, as well as allowing you an interactive way of accessing the information most important to you at any given time throughout the week.

2. Setting Up For Your Session

All chairs and speakers are asked to arrive 15 minutes early for your session so that you can transfer any presentation materials to the PC in your room. If there are any technical glitches when you are setting up - don't worry, our volunteers are on hand to help you in case of emergencies. They might be a little busy at these times though, so if you arrive a little early that would help greatly.

3. WiFi

Our dedicated conference WiFi is up, tested, and working beautifully. The ID that you can use is called 'IAMCR_Conference'. Please connect to either that WiFi network, or Eduroam if you are an Eduroam user.

4. Friday Social Event

Friday's social event is going to be an informal way of catching up with each other, continuing your conversations from sessions and getting to know new connections. While the event officially starts at 19:00 in the Helix, we are delighted to let you know that drinks will be available from 6:15, with canapés following shortly thereafter. This will be followed by a selection of plated food, and a taster of Irish cheeses. Why not come over early after your session to sample the best of Irish fare?!

5. Certificates of attendance

If you would like a certificate of attendance, these will be available at the registration desks on Thursday and Friday when the desks will be a little less busy.

6. Hotel Shuttles

Transportation to and from hotels to the conference venue in the mornings and evenings will be provided only for those conference participants who have booked hotel accommodation through our partner website (excluding the Regency Hotel and DCU Campus accommodations which are in a walking distance).
